What do the PDL and KTP lasers treat?
These lasers treat unwanted red spots, generalized redness, and blood vessels.
How long is the downtime?
The downtime with these lasers is minimal. Patients typically experience mild redness and may have a few days of mild swelling and bruising, depending on the intensity of treatment received.
What will I need to do prior to treatment?
We will plan to see you for consultation prior to your treatment. At this time, we will obtain a detailed history and create a treatment plan custom tailored to your individual needs. You will need to avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your laser treatment.
When will I see results?
The timeline of results varies with the treatment you receive. Results from sclerotherapy and KTP are more immediate, while you can see results from PDL over a few weeks.
Pulsed Dye Laser
The Pulsed dye laser has a wavelength of 585nm and is the ideal choice for treatment of unwanted red spots, such as cherry angiomas, port wine stains, rosacea, generalized redness, and vascular lesions. Treatment is very well-tolerated and results are typically long lasting.
KTP Laser Treatment
Broken blood vessels and telangiectasias on the chest, face, and limbs can be unsightly and embarrassing. Age and sun spots can result from exposure to the sun or aging. This treatment makes use of powerful frequencies resulting from laser technology utilizing a potassium titanyl phosphate (KTP) crystal. Immediate results from this treatment are common, and most patients reach their aesthetic goals in 3-6 visits.
Varicose veins are the result of swelling and bulging and typically appear in the legs. Sclerotherapy is a viable way of addressing varicose veins that does not involve a surgical procedure. This treatment involves the injection of a substance known as sclerosant that causes mild irritation in blood vessels. This irritation causes swelling that constricts flow through the vessel, causing it to shrink and become less noticeable. This process has been used for over 200 years, but recent treatments have seen vast improvements that produce more consistent results.
