Nonablative Facial Rejuvenation and Skin Resurfacing

As the years wear on, we all develop a collection of minor scars, wrinkles, and brown spots brought on by age. Non-ablative laser rejuvenation helps to erase these signs of aging by promoting the growth of collagen using laser technology. Enhancing the collagen in our skin helps us continue to appear healthy and young. The physicians at Northwestern Skin and Laser offer a variety of non-ablative laser rejuvenation treatments.

The most popular non-ablative laser rejuvenation systems use fractional lasers in their treatments. These layers work by putting minute channels into the skins dermal layers, leaving the surrounding skin intact to reduce downtime and improve results. The results from these treatments are more noticeable and last longer than those with more traditional laser treatments.

What do non-ablative lasers treat?

Non-ablative lasers are able to treat aging skin, wrinkles, uneven pigment and texture, scarring from surgery or acne, and uneven skin pigment and texture.

How long is the downtime?

The downtime varies based on how deep and intense your treatment is. While lighter treatments may have minimal downtime, deeper resurfacing treatments can take up to one week to allow the skin to heal.

What will I need to do prior to treatment?

We will plan to see you for consultation prior to your treatment. At this time, we will obtain a detailed history and create a treatment plan custom tailored to your individual needs. You will need to avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your treatment.

When will I see results?

Your results will start to become apparent as your skin heals. Depending on the intensity of your treatment, results may last 6 months or up to several years in some patients. We will discuss expected individual results at your consultation based on your treatment needs.

Non-ablative laser treatments devices available at our clinic:

Fraxel

The results from Fraxel treatment are achieved using the non-ablative fractional method described above. This system is excellent for treating scarring, hyperpigmentation, sun spots, liver spots, wrinkles, and fine lines. We typically recommend a series of several treatments of Fraxel to obtain maximum results.

HALO

The HALO Hybrid fractional laser combined methods that are ablative and non-ablative in nature to produce stunning results in skin rejuvenation. Ablative methods temporarily wound the skin to help address certain conditions, while non-ablative methods do not wound the skin. Each has its merits, and HALO takes advantage of both. HALO is typically well-tolerated and has an average of 3-5 days of downtime.

Clear & Brilliant

Patients looking to get skin resurfacing, rejuvenation, or to address superficial pigmentation may be able to benefit from the Clear & Brilliant system available at Northwestern Skin and Laser. The 1440mm wavelength laser used by this system works to create treatment zones that are microscopic that generates a youthful dermal layer in place of damaged skin. Regular treatments with this system help to produce and maintain a complexion that is radiant and youthful. Clear & Brilliant has been reported to reduce pore size, improve skin tone and texture, and generate a vibrant, radiant complexion clear of imperfections. Downtime is minimal to none with this laser.
